What this site collects

Aggregate traffic statistics: which pages get read, roughly which country a visit came from, and which page sent it. I use that to work out which questions to answer next. It is not tied to a name and it is not sold or shared.

If you email me, your message and address sit in my mailbox until the thread is finished. They go nowhere else and onto no list.

The GetYourGuide booking panels

This is the part worth reading. The booking panels are not part of this site. They are frames served by GetYourGuide, loaded by a script from widget.getyourguide.com, and your browser fetches them straight from GetYourGuide when the page opens.

That means GetYourGuide can see your IP address, your browser and the page you were looking at, and it can set its own cookies on your machine. One of those cookies records that the visit came from this site, which is how a booking gets credited to me and how the commission works. Everything you type into a panel — name, dates, card details — goes to GetYourGuide and never reaches me. GetYourGuide’s own privacy policy governs all of it, and it is the document to read if you want the full list of what they store.

The site also loads its typeface from Google Fonts, so Google receives a request from your browser when a page opens. Nothing else here is embedded from a third party.

Your choices

Block third-party cookies or third-party content in your browser and the written pages still work normally. The booking panels will stop loading, which is the only thing you lose. Clearing your cookies also clears the attribution cookie, and I simply earn nothing from a booking you make afterwards.
